Fataneh Foroughi
Born 1986, Tehran, Iran
Fataneh Foroughi received her M.A. in Painting from the University of Art, Isfahan, her B.A. in Painting from the University of Art, Zahedan, and her Diploma in Graphic Design from 15 Khordad Art High School in Rasht.
She has exhibited her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions both inside and outside Iran, and has also participated with her works in several major international art fairs.
Fataneh Foroughi is an artist whose practice focuses on still-life painting. One of her principal concerns is the study of light at different hours of the day and its effect on objects and their surroundings.
The following text is the artist statement for her exhibition titled Everything That Is Here with Me, held at In/ja Gallery in 2018.
Flowers and objects have been, for me, active, possessed of will, and capable of exerting influence. Living alongside and drawing the ordinary things around me, in order to give them a voice, is a way of understanding life.
For this reason, I was not looking for old or frequently used objects that carry already-defined social and cultural meanings. The subject had to resonate with me and be in harmony with its light and situation. The direct light of day or the darkness of night transformed its meaning, and in the absence of human beings it seemed more significant. In order to create meaning, or to understand them better, I would change their spatial position, and sometimes they would be accompanied by other objects. I would sit before them for hours and look at them.
These works attempt to narrate life from a seemingly less significant perspective—that of the everyday. A place where the human being is no longer at the center of the world, but rather a being among other beings and objects.

فتانه فروغی
متولد ۱۳۶۵ تهران
مدرک کارشناسی ارشد نقاشی را از دانشگاه هنر اصفهان، کارشناسی نقاشی از دانشگاه هنر زاهدان و دیپلم گرافیک خود را از هنرستان ۱۵ خرداد رشت گرفته است.
او آثارش را در چندین نمایش انفرادی و گروهی در داخل و خارج از ایران به نمایش گذاشته و با آثارش در چندین آرتفر مهم بینالمللی نیز حضور داشته است.
فتانه فروغی هنرمندیست که تمرکزش روی نقاشی از طبیعت بیجان است. توجه به نور در ساعتهای مختلف روز و تأثیر آن بر اشیا و پیرامون آن از دغدغههای اصلی او به حساب میآید. متن زیر استیتمنت نمایشگاه او با عنوان « هر چه با من اینجاست» که سال ۱۳۹۷ در گالری این/جا برگزار شد.
گلها و اشیا برایم فعال، با اراده و اثرگذار بودهاند. همدمی و کشیدن چیزهای معمولیِ اطرافم، برای به سخن در آوردنشان، نوعی روش برای فهم زندگی است. از این رو به دنبال شیءهای قدیمی و یا پُرکاربردی نبودم که زندگی اجتماعی و فرهنگی تبیین شدهای دارند. سوژه باید به دلم مینشست و با نور و موقعیتاش هماهنگ میشد. تابش مستقیم نور روز و یا تاریکی شب معنایش را دگرگون میکرد و در غیاب انسان مهمتر به نظر میرسید. برای معنابخشی و یا فهم بهتر، موقعیت مکانیشان را تغییر میدادم و گاهی با ابژههای دیگر همراه میشدند. ساعتها روبهرویشان مینشستم و به آنها نگاه میکردم.
این آثار تلاش میکنند زندگی را از زاویهای بهظاهر بیاهمیتترِ روزمره روایت کنند. آنجا که آدمی دیگر در مرکز عالم قرار ندارد، بلکه موجودی است در میان موجودات و اشیا دیگر.
